AIGA Pittsburgh’s 2008-09 board is made up of dedicated professionals from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines.

Greg Gibilisco

Greg is the president of the Pittsburgh chapter of AIGA and a designer at MAYA, a technology design and innovation lab. He has served on AIGA Pittsburgh’s board of directors since July of 2006 and has been the co-chair of Context, AIGA Pittsburgh’s annual design competition and exhibition for the past 3 years.

At MAYA he has worked with clients, such as Bayer Healthcare, Comcast Interactive Media, General Dynamics and Whirlpool, to apply human-centered design to kick start innovation around business challenges in the connected world. He also teaches teams how to be more effective by developing competency in human-centered design throughout their organizations. Prior to joining MAYA, he worked as an associate creative director at The Bank of New York Mellon, where he managed a team of designers focused on corporate design and branding. Greg holds a Masters degree in communication from Duquesne University and a Bachelor of Science degree in graphic design from La Roche College.


Andrew Twigg

Andrew runs Andrew Twigg Design Studio LTD, an independent design consultancy focused on branding, print and web design and is co-owner of Dozen Cupcakes and Dozen Bake Shop. Prior to running his own businesses, Andrew lived in Chicago where he worked on consumer and business brands including Discover Card, Allstate, GE, FTI Consulting, Crain’s Chicago Business and University of Chicago Hospitals.

Andrew holds a BA from Allegheny College in Communication Design. In addition to his involvement in AIGA, he is locally involved with PUMP (Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project) and is involved in local small business advocacy. He has contributed articles to AIGA Voice and design blog Speak Up, and sits on the board of DesignInquiry, a non-profit educational organization devoted to researching design issues in conference-alternative settings.

Andrew joined the AIGA Pittsburgh board of directors in 2007.


Jenny Pearson

As an art director at Brady Communications, Jenny designs both print and Web projects for clients like American Eagle Outfitters, the Boy Scouts of America’s Greater Pittsburgh Council and Carnegie Mellon University. She also helps to inspire and lead a team of graphic designers. Jenny worked as a freelance designer before joining Brady Communications and graduated with honors from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a bachelor of science degree in graphic design.

Jenny is a member of AIGA to support her profession, to give back to the design community and to take advantage of the countless member benefits. She has been a member since 2004.


Ian DeJesus

Ian has worked as a graphic designer for six years. After a recent stint at a user experience design company, he developed an interest in interaction and user interface design. Ever since, he has been working at companies that specialize in the field to gain on-the-job experience.

Ian graduated from Penn State University in 2001 with a bachelor’s in Advertising. He also holds an associate degree in graphic design from Bucks County Community College.


Tim Speicher

Tim is the Vice President of Marketing for Hydro4GE, Inc and an adjunct faculty member at Robert Morris University in the Media Arts Department. He has worked as a web professional in the Pittsburgh area since 1997 and most recently was the Web/Interactive Director for Zoltun Design. Tim holds a bachelors of music from Ithaca College and a masters of multimedia technology from Duquesne University.

Tim has served on the AIGA board of directors since July of 2007.


Vicki Crowley

Vicki is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Design; after stints with Richard Saul Wurman and Landor Associates, she returned to Pittsburgh and joined Landesberg Design in 2000. Some of her noteworthy projects include a comprehensive branch signage system for Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, the walking tour guide Pittsburgh Art In Public Places, and the map system for Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers Park.

Vicki has served on the AIGA Pittsburgh board of directors since 2003, and belongs to the Association of Professional Design Firms (APDF) and the Society for Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD).


Jonathan Hill

Jonathan first joined ThoughtForm in 1997 as an illustrator, collaborating with designers and engineers to create compelling visual graphics. Combining his skills in design and his hobby of bicycling, he moved to Tampa, Florida, to work as an art director at a small bicycle parts company. In 2007 he rejoined ThoughtForm with a new focus on marketing the firm. Jonathan is experienced in all aspects of the creative process, from strategy and concept through design and production. His expertise with projects across all types of media help to ensure the ThoughtForm story is clear and engaging.


Tony Lindemann

Tony works for ClearBrands, Inc., a boutique firm that specializes in brand strategy and identity for small-to-mid-market companies. He manages initial concept development through product roll-out and implementation, and engages and facilitates clients in strategic planning sessions. In addition to AIGA, Tony is also an active member of SEGD (The Society for Environmental Graphic Design).


Joseph Morgano Jr.

Joseph Morgano Jr. was born and raised in the "Steel City" Pittsburgh, PA. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute while concurrently earning an honorary degree from the “School of Hard Knocks” located in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. Although he’s been often mistaken as an undercover police detective, Joseph has never been an officer of the law. Joseph’s work can be found in the archives of Pentagram Design, The McDevitt Group, The Apartment, and Ignition13. Joseph has contributed his concepts and designs for clients such as JPMorgan Chase, Ito En, The National Football League, Time Warner, and Mercedes-Benz, just to name a few. In addition to his involvement in AIGA, he has also collaborated on design projects with Manhattan pop artist Stephen Powers, the Design Trust for Public Space (NYC), and the Brooklyn based motorcycle collective- Indian Larry Legacy. In 2003, Joseph was honored by Pratt Institute and received the “Certificate of Excellence Award for Outstanding Merit in Graphic Design”.


Doris Short

Doris Short was born and raised in Denmark and immigrated to the United States in 1990 after earning a degree in fashion and business in Copenhagen. She also holds a degree in graphic design with a minor in graphic communications from The Art Institute. Doris brings over 16 years of experience in management, business, art and design to her consultancy Doris Short Design. Her clients include Hewlett Packard, GlaxoSmithKline, author Gwyn Cready, and Palomar College. She is also a part-time graphic design teacher at Robert Morris University. Doris has served as education chair on the AIGA Pittsburgh board of directors since 2006 and is an enthusiastic advocate for the Pittsburgh educational community.


Jacki Temple

Jacki is a designer, production artist and print buyer at the Pipitone Group, a full-service channel marketing firm with integrated disciplines of strategy, design, marketing technologies, and public relations.

She collaborates with a team of designers to develop and maintain branding and visual identity for various clients while also helping to manage design production for the entire firm.

A (mostly) South Carolina native, Jacki completed a bachelor’s degree in philosophy with a minor in graphic design at the University of South Carolina. She then promptly became employed at a printing company to continue her education before eventually taking a position at a firm. She and her husband moved to Pittsburgh in 2004, and she has served on the AIGA Pittsburgh board since July 2007. In her free time, she runs long distance, volunteers for the Mattress Factory, paints and does photography, and is an avid member of a local curling club.


R.J. Thompson

RJ is currently a graphic designer, student, and entrepreneur. Currently he is working for La Roche College as a visiting professor. He is also attending the Savannah College of Art and Design, pursuing a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Design. He hopes to graduate in 2010. In combination with a day job and school, RJ has also started his own small company, Zola Design LLC, offering design services to a variety of clients. In his free time, RJ rides his bike around Pittsburgh and shoots photographs, as well as volunteering for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. RJ has served on the AIGA Board of Directors since 2007. He lives in the Brookline neighborhood of Pittsburgh.


Amy Wohar

Amy Wohar works at Zoltun Design and is a recent graduate of California University of Pennsylvania where she received her bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design. Growing up in a small town, Amy was thrilled with her recent move to the beautiful city of Pittsburgh. She now enjoys the comforts of the city and loves the sweeping vistas of Mount Washington, where she now resides.

Loving to stay active, Amy keeps busy with her many hobbies including: salsa dancing, skiing, spending time with her friends and family, constant visits to art museums, playing in a softball league, Pirates games, reading and writing, trying to learn Spanish, and attending the theater and every art exhibit that sails through the city.


James Haizlett

Jim Haizlett lives on a hilltop farm in West Virginia with his wife Jo Ellen, 7 children, a flock of chickens, and various other furry animals. A full time carpenter in a previous life, he heats with wood, makes maple syrup, and exhibits his sculptures in regional exhibitions and galleries. To support his rural lifestyle addiction Jim is an associate professor of graphic design at West Liberty University. He is also a studio art examiner for the Educational Testing Service and for the International Baccalaureate. With a bachelors degree in Communication Arts and a masters degree in Instructional Technology, Jim has served as a graphic designer, art director, business owner, and consultant on educational software projects ranging from interactive storybooks to space travel simulations. He is the founder and director of the West Virginia Flash Animation Festival.


Advisory Board

The advisory board assists in extending the reach of the board of directors through its experience, influence and mentorship. They provide guidance on critical chapter decisions, leadership perspective concerning future goals, and direction on strategic matters.

Board Member Election Process

Board members are chosen by a nominating committee comprised of the executive committee with the advice of the board. We seek candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to the Pittsburgh chapter and its standards through volunteering as well as through their professional work. Occasionally, unfilled board positions will be posted on the get involved page of this site. All positions are unpaid and require a two-year commitment.
