Submitted work must have been produced in the Pittsburgh region between November 1, 2006 and December 31, 2007, and made available to an audience by a designer, art director, illustrator, photographer, or publisher. Vendors may submit work only with written permission of the designer.
Undergraduate and graduate student work is eligible for submission and will be judged in its own category. Completed solutions to class projects as well as freelance assignments will be accepted. Student work does not have to be mass-produced to qualify for the competition.

Advertising Design
The year’s best-designed and executed advertising and direct mail campaigns are honored in this category.
Book Design
Excellence in book design and production will be honored in this category.
Corporate Communication Design
(includes non-profit organizations)
This category recognizes the best of corporate communications design in all media. Entries may include annual reports, brochures and catalogs.
Identity Design
The year’s best-designed graphic identities and stationery packages for corporations, organizations, institutions and individuals are honored in this category.
Information Design
Excellence in works designed to display information clearly will be honored in this category. Eligible entries include charts, maps, graphs, forms and specification manuals that are executed in either print or digital media, as well as exhibitions, signage, way-finding systems and themed environments that demonstrate the use of design elements to make the complex clear.
Interactive Design
The year’s best-designed interactive media will be honored in this category. Entries may include banners, interstitials, animations, CD-ROMs and DVDs, interactive interfaces (kiosks, etc), motion graphics and web sites.
Packaging Design
This category recognizes the best-designed consumer packaging, labels, shopping bags and specialty products.
Periodical Design
Excellence in the design of periodical publications will be recognized in this category. Entries may include magazines, newspapers, journals and newsletters.
Promotional Design
This category recognizes excellence in works designed to introduce, sell, or promote products, ideas, or events. Entries may include posters, invitations, announcements and giveaways (calendars, t-shirts, buttons, etc.).
