PREPARE

In order to reduce environmental waste, AIGA Pittsburgh requires that hard copies of work be submitted unmounted. All entries from a single entrant should be sent in one package or envelope. If there are too many pieces to fit into one package, the entrant may submit multiple packages.

In addition to hard copy submissions, all entries will need to include a single electronic image of the piece uploaded via the online entry tool.  This image will be used for reference as we process entries and may be used for an online database of entries following our show. We recommend that you prepare these images prior to submitting your entries. Images should be no larger than 800k in JPG, PNG or GIF format.

Our new online system will send you an email with a form to affix to the back of each piece. Interactive and time-based media will need to submit a single color print of the submission (see details below) and should also be submitted via our submission website with a URL to the website or an online video in the case of time-based media.

Additional details:

All entries should have the label generated by our online entry system affixed to the back of each piece.

Submit all bound items and single-sheet items as-is, umounted, in the grouped entries envelope.

Logos must be printed in color on a letter-size sheet and submitted unmounted in the grouped entries envelope.

Items in a series (up to five pieces grouped as one entry) must be grouped unmounted; each piece in the series should have a copy of the label generated by our system attached indicating that it is part of the series. When submitting a series via our website, a single image including all pieces in the series should be submitted.

For 2D work larger than 16 x 22”, entries will be accepted mounted on black illustration board (no foam core) at the size they were produced, up to 26 x 40”.  Anything larger than 26 x 40" should be photographed or otherwise reproduced at a smaller scale and submitted with a note referencing actual size.

Three-dimensional work such as packaging must be photographed with the photo submitted unmounted in the grouped envelope. If the dimensions of a submission are less than 1.5" x 14" x 20", the actual package or 3D work may be submitted.

Interactive and time-based media must be submitted with a single color print of 4 screens from the project on an 8.5” x 11” piece of paper. If the piece will be available online at the time of judging, only the URL needs to be submitted in addition to the print. Video pieces should be uploaded to a video service such as vimeo or youtube, with the URL for those pieces included in the online entry form. If the piece can not be made available online, it should be burned to CD clearly labeled with the submission title and firm/designer’s name in addition to the color print.

PACKAGE
For hard copies of all entries, submit work as detailed above. Printed images will be accepted only for oversize graphics, interactive, and packaging/3D entries. Entries must be accompanied by:

  • One copy of the individual entry label affixed to the back of its corresponding piece. Again, this is generated by the competition website.
  • Payment in full via credit card on the submission website or via check/money order.
Make checks payable to AIGA Pittsburgh.

Package all pieces together for submission. Please mark all packages AIGA Pittsburgh: PGH365 with submitter’s name and phone number on the package. We regret that entries and disks cannot be returned. However, work may be picked up on the day that the show is dismantled. Full details will be available at a later date.
