Mission

AIGA advances design as a professional craft, strategic advantage and vital cultural force. As the largest community of design advocates, we bring together practitioners, enthusiasts, and patrons to amplify the voice of design and create the vision for a collective future. We define global standards and ethical practices, guide design education, enhance professional development, and make powerful tools and resources accessible to all.

Being A Director

The Board of Directors meets in person, monthly, to communicate, strategize, plan events and manage other initiatives of our chapter. They are a group of diverse professionals who develop ways to bring value to our members by providing great programs, events and resources to the Pittsburgh design community. There are 5 areas of focus of the chapter: Membership, Partnership, Communication, Programming, and Education. No matter where your interests lie, we can find a place for you and your passion.

Benefits

Serving on the Board of Directors is the perfect way to be hands on with the planning and strategic direction of our chapter. It’s also a fun way to connect with local and nationally recognized designers and make connections with other local organizations. Additionally, you’ll gain free admission to a majority of AIGA Pittsburgh events. Your time as a Director will give you great insight to the local community, and help you grow professionally in ways you may not have to opportunity to explore in your profession.

Responsibilities

Director positions are open to anyone, as long as you are able to meet the following requirements:
• Serve a two-year term
• AIGA membership at the Sustaining Level (throughout the duration of your term)
• Attend monthly Director meetings and some local chapter events
• Help spread the word about AIGA Pittsburgh events and projects
• Serve on at least one committee

Important Dates

June 27th – Last day to submit nomination
July 7th - Nomination slate will be emailed to membership for approval
July 16 - Annual Open Board Meeting
July 29 - Last day to ratify the slate
Aug TBA - 2013-2015 Board of Directors will be introduced
