David Laufer shows his award winning design and fine art. He also has many stories—sometimes outrageous sometimes funny, always inspirational about seeking and finding mentoring relationships with some of the leading creative and business leaders of the late 20th century. These include film makers such as Charles and Ray Eames and Saul Bass, graphic design giants Paul Rand, Massimo Vignelli, Ivan Chermayeff and Herb Lubalin, Influential industrial designers like R. Buckminster Fuller, George Nelson and Victor Papanek, artisans such as Heinz Edelmann, Herman Zapf and corporate chiefs like Scientific Atlanta's Sidney Topol and Coca-Cola's Roberto Goizuetta.
The talk focuses on a few crucial themes every creative individual must confront in their career quest:
• looking good vs. doing good,
• the role of mentoring in creative development
• building a strong portfolio
• doing design vs. doing art
• the designer client relationship
• making money vs. making a difference to the world
Join David Laufer for good stories, great eye candy and amazing insights from the grandmasters that remain valuable to creative professionals throughout their careers.
