Women Lead Initiative (WLI) Pittsburgh Community Forum

The AIGA Women Lead Initiative (WLI) is committed to empowering women in design and advancing the vital discourse on issues facing professional women today without generalizing or segregating women designers. Instead, we aim to address persistent biases and inequities inclusively and constructively through programming around three goals:

• Celebrate the achievements of women in design.
• Cultivate awareness of gender-related issues, while building knowledge and leadership skills.
• Connect by facilitating relationships within and beyond the design industry.

AIGA Pittsburgh invites women from our community to help us shape WLI opportunities for our chapter. We’re getting started with an open forum where we’ll collaborate and have candid discussions to define the unique challenges women face in the creative work environment. This will lead us into developing strategies and exploring ways to address these issues, grow as individuals, and support each other. Our goal is to build on the momentum of the forum and continue to engage forum participants in creating WLI-focused programming for our chapter. AIGA Pittsburgh will also share our plan to keep the dialogue going online after the event.

The forum is sponsored by BNY Mellon and will be held in its Innovation Center in the main building downtown (500 Grant Street). Bring a photo ID and sign in at the security desk in the lobby. The forum will open at 6:00 p.m. and start promptly at 6:30 p.m. Snacks and beverages will be served. Participation is limited to 30 individuals, including members and non-members.
