2017 AIGA Pittsburgh Open Board Nominations
It’s a great time to be in Pittsburgh. And we want you to join our efforts as we serve the local design community. We’re looking for design professionals who have a passion for community, our craft and shaping our community in the years to come. Nominate yourself, or other potential leaders. With your help, our board can connect our design community, our city, while embracing what makes us uniquely Pittsburgh.
The Job
The Board of Directors meets in person, monthly, to communicate, strategize, plan events and manage other initiatives of our chapter. They are a talented group who develops ways to bring value to our members by providing great programs, events and resources to the Pittsburgh design community. No matter where your interests lie, we can find a place for you and your passion.
The Perks
Serving on the Board of Directors is the perfect way to be hands on with the planning and strategic direction of our chapter. It’s also a fun way to connect with local and nationally recognized designers and make connections with other local organizations. Additionally, you’ll gain free admission to a majority of AIGA Pittsburgh events. Your time as a Director will give you great insight to the local community, and help you grow professionally in ways you may not have to opportunity to explore in your profession.
What’s Involved
AIGA Pittsburgh is 100% volunteer powered. We rely on our Board Members to represent our chapter, be the face of our chapter at events, and create a community. We’re looking for Board Members who can commit to a two-year term, as well as the time, self-motivation and dedication required to create change.
What’s Required
• Serve a two-year term
• AIGA membership at the Supporting Level (throughout the duration of your term)
• Attend monthly Director meetings and the majority of local chapter events
• Help spread the word about AIGA Pittsburgh events and projects
• Serve on at least one committee
So Why Do It?
Make a contribution to your profession. Make an investment in yourself. Being a Board Member is about more than being at the chapter events. It’s an opportunity for you to connect with and make an impact in the community that we work, live, and play in. Being a Board Member is about growing and pushing each other to be better. It’s a collaborative effort, and one that’s worth the investment.

There’s a certain sense of accomplishment that comes with Board Service. It’s the smile that you just can’t drop after an event you worked tirelessly on. It’s seeing your colleagues come out for an evening together. It’s being a part of a network of designers both locally and across the country.
